On The Beach

With Beverly Baxter

It's been a sad week for our judicial system. A beautiful little girl
was murdered, within the safety of her own home, and nobody can solve her murder. There were no signs of forced entry. You have a mother who paraded her daughter around on the beauty pageant circuit in the most provocative costumes designed to arouse. Wasn't this the height of child abuse? This little girl didn't choose her wardrobe, nor did she on her own bleach and teeze her own hair or apply her own mascara and lipliner. The district attorney stated that the grand jury had concluded that there was not enough evidence to indict one or both of the Ramseys. Can't you just hear the weeping cries from the child's grave? In the wake of O.J. Simpson, one would hope, and expect, that any police department, even a novice one such as in Boulder, would, at the very least, secure the crime scene....or was justice, in this case, just another bought commodity afforded by the affluent and connected. Although he said it in a different context, Warren Beatty got it right when he proclaimed, "Why is there no protest anymore?!"

****The Donald as the President? Now there's an offensive thought! Talk about "building" an ego to the heights of narcissism!

****The ultimate Clinton irony: Hillary's candidacy hurts Gore, while
Bradley's candidacy helps Hillary.

****It took a great deal of integrity and conviction for Staten Island
Borough President Guy Mollinari to rescind his support for George W. Bush, and endorse John McCain. I happen to like the Arizona senator and feel that he is the
most deserving of the Republican Party nomination.

****Marylou McGonigle-Piccione will be featured in the December issue of the Lexington Registry of Who's Who in the World of Business. Marylou, the daughter of Sally and John McGonigle of Rockaway Beach, is a partnership marketing executive for British Airways. Raised in Rockaway Beach, Ms. McGonigle began her employment with British Airways 11 years ago as a reservations clerk and has advanced herself to an executive position. Marylou was recently certified in management studies at Oxford Consortium University. She resides in Bayside with her husband. Congratulations on this most prestigious honor!

****Oh she's such a beautiful baby! I'm referring to Taylor Marie Vegh!
Taylor is the adorable two year old daughter of Joan Vegh; and if we have another baby bathing beauty contest next year, Taylor would certainly be a strong contender! Did I mention, she looks just like her mother!!

****Get Well wishes to Richard Geoghegan who recently endured a horrific brutal attack.

****Happy Birthday to the "beautiful, respectful, artistic, theatrical, musical," one and only Owen Baxter!
