Robert Henry Furrows died on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the V.A. Hospital.
Service was held Tuesday, October 12.
Robert was born in Brooklyn and received his education in the New York school system.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and worked various jobs. He enjoyed the simple things in life, like being with his family and friends during his leisure time.
The widower of the late Jonnie P., Robert is survived by sisters Ernestine Furrows of Far Rockaway, Bernice Furrows of Long Island and Whilma Furrows of Philadelhphia; brothers Gilbert Furrows of North Carolina and Bernard Lambert of Long Island; devoted niece Doreen Adams; special friends Clyde and Linda; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment under the direction of Chatmon and Benson Funeral Home, Inwood, was held at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island.
Rudolph Oswald Gibson
Worked For MTA
Service for Rudolph Oswald Gibson was held on Friday, October 8, 1999.
Rudolph was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Gibson of Adventure-Essequibo, Guyana. He was the youngest of two children.
As a young man he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life. He became a policeman in the Guyana Police Force and became a devoted husband and loving father.
Rudolph served many years as a policeman, then changed professions to become a Community Development Officer. Out of hope for a better opportunity for his family, Rudolph came to the United States in 1977, where he was later joined by his loved ones.
Rudolph went to work for the Metropolitan Transit Authority where he excelled.
He is survived by his long-time love and best friend Verna Singh; sister Victorine; sons Brian, Colin, Mike, Cyril and Curtis; daughters Sandra, Lynette, Winnie, Nadia, Claudia, Claudette, Claudine, Shondel and Odessa; daughters-in-law Donna and Pinky; grandchildren Claudia, Ryan, Collette, Alia, Layla, Chris, Caleb, Danny, Cody, Jonathan, Joshua, Naya, Ashley, Sheraya, Destini, Devin and Devon; plus nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his grandson the late Eric.
Interment under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home, Inc., was held at Amityville Cemetery, Long Island.

Service for Catherine Mose was held on Monday, October 4, 1999.
Born in Gosport, Alabama, Catherine was a Far Rockaway resident for many years.
She is preceded in death by brothers Jim, William, Dock and Johnny; and sisters Mary Mose and Nellie Mae Smith.
Catherine is survived by sons Wilmer Lee Tucker (Estella) and Alvin Ray Taylor; daughters Marvelina Scott, Rose Mary Gelzer (Roy) and Gloria Jean Mose; sister Hennrietta Thomas; sister-in-law Rosie Lee Mose; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and devoted friends.
Interment under the direction of Reese Funeral Home, Inc., of Prichard, Alabama was held at Whispering Pine Cemetery, Whistler, Alabama.
Enora Moss Of Far Rockaway
Mass of Christian Burial for Enora Moss was held Wednesday, October 13 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, Far Rockaway.
She died October 10, 1999 in Maimonides Hospital, Brooklyn.
Far Rockaway resident for twelve years, Enora was born in Henderson, North Carolina.
She worked as an office aide, level three, in Kings County Hospital Center.
Enora is survived by sons Michael and William; brother Ellis Richardson; and four grandchildren.
Entombment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., of Rockaway Beach, was held at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Long Island.

Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine Mullen was celebrated Thursday, October 14 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Rockaway Beach.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 25, 1943, Geraldine resided in Broad Channel, New Jersey, Florida and Rockaway Beach.
She worked as a technician supervisor for 3M in New Jersey and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 260 in Broad Channel.
She passed away October 10, 1999.
Widow of John J., Geraldine is survived by sons William O’Connor (Peggy) of Florida, Daniel O’Connor (Tracy) of Rockaway Beach and Shawn O’Connor (Deborah) of Broad Channel; daughters Margared Glade (Bobby) of Broad Channel, Patricia Rich (Jerry) of Broad Channel, Kathleen Springer (Carlos) of Flushing, Dawn Moynihan (Danny) of Florida; grandchildren Danny, Monique, Bobby, Jerry, John, Crystal, Meagan, Patrick, Deanna, Sean, Carlos, Danielle, Alyssa and William; sister Patricia Rosa (Jimmy); brothers Jimmy Johnson (Sue) and John Johnson (Vicky); three nieces; one nephew; three great nieces; and many loving cousins, in-laws and special friends.
Final arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., of Rockaway Beach.
Michael J. Murphy
Mass of Christian Burial for Michael J. Murphy was held on Saturday, October 9 at St. Camillus Church.
He died October 7 in Flushing Medical Center.
Michael was a life-time Rockaway Park resident. He was a senior court clerk for the New York State Court System. He served in the U.S. Army for 1962 to 1965 and came out a Spec 4.
He is survived by brothers John and Timothy and sister Ester Judge.
He is predeceased by brothers Kevin Murphy and James Egan; and sisters Joan Murphy and Sheila O’Donnell.
Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Inc., of Rockaway Beach, was held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.
Raised In Rockaway
Rose Pisanello (nee Velardi) died Saturday, October 2, 1999.
Raised in Rockaway Beach, Rose later resided in Cedarhurst and Baldwin. She attended P.S. 44 and Far Rockaway High School. For many years she was employed at Mathews Beauty Salon in Rockaway and Bewitched Salon in Woodmere.
Rose is survived by three children Florence (Charles) Rizzo of Cedahurst, Joseph (Rosemary) Pisanello of Baldwin and Ann Avella of Malverne; sister Sara Santora; brothers Ralph and Patsy Velardi; grandchildren Annmarie Rizzo, Ellen (Stephen) Lynch, Joan Rizzo, Joseph (Darlene) Pisanello, Andrew Pisanello, Tanya Pisanello, Anthony Avella, Athena (Victor) Calderone; and great-grandchildren Stepen, Mathew and Samantha Lynch and Noelle and Nadine Pisanello.
She is predeceased by her husband Carmen and three brothers and two sisters.
Services were held at St. Anthony’s Church in Oceanside.
Interment under the direction of Towers Funeral Home, of Oceanside, was held at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island.
