Bomb Scare Saturday

Too Close For Wave Comfort

By Joan Ward George

Wave staffers said it was just too close for comfort when police from the 100 Precinct responded to a call last Saturday afternoon about a possible bomb in back of a building located at 316 Beach 88 street, just around the corner from The Wave office building.

An anonymous tip lead police officers and detectives from the 100 Precinct to a lot behind an abandoned building on Beach 88 street at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon where they found a suspicious bag with a tube and wires.

The New York City Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene and removed the package, transporting it to Rodmans Neck Police Range in the Bronx. According to police, the package was found to be a dud. No injuries occurred and no arrests were made.
