Shamrocks Top Plainedge

Ponies Win Three In A Row

Last Sunday, head coach Marty Feeney and his 11 and 12 year old Shamrocks traveled to Plainedge to post their third victory. The day was off to a great start when families and friends saw Kevin Martin take the field for the first time this season. With encouragement from his teammates and coaches Kevin never gave up.

The Shamrock offense had another outstanding day led by quarterback
Sharif Soliman. Scoring first with a five yard run up the middle was Anthony Pagano. Plainedge answered with six but then Joe Feria returned the kick off for another score. Next, Benny Gross scored on a 15 yard pass from Sharif, bringing the score to 19-6.

In the second half the Shamrocks threw down another six with a 46 yard pass to Pat Cavanaugh. This was followed by Joe Feria returning a punt for another TD. The offense, coached by Gene Guiterri and Gerard Brosnahan, was near perfection with blocks from linemen Danny McMahon, Ray Newton, Danny O'Reilly, Brian Madden, Rob Consolo, and Ray Agolia.

Defensively, the Shamrocks were led into big plays by coaches Brian
McMahon and Billy Gill. Anthony Pagano recovered a fumble and Benny Gross intercepted and ran back for nine. Willie Gill made the big tackles on the kick returns. Four solo tackles were turned in by Spencer Daly. Joe Feria also had
a solo tackle. Negative yards were the result of tackles made by Benny Gross, Sean O'Boyle, and Willie Gill. Big Dan Murphy with a solo tackle from his safety position. Outstanding play was turned in by Anthony Dello, Kathleen Kelly, Joe Tyne, Timmy Leonard, Dennis McMahon, Andy Minami, David Bierne,
and Ed Walls.

This Sunday the Shamrocks are home against West Babylon Cowboys at 1 p.m. This is expected to be a very tough and exciting game. Be there!
