Kim and Michael McGee are happy to announce the arrival of Sean Michael McGee, born at Mercy Medical Center on September 18, 1999, weighing 10 pounds, four ounces and 22 and a half inches long. Sean joins big sister, Mary-Kate, and big brother, Colin, and is the 11 grandchild of Betty and Will Thornhill of Roxbury.
The testimonial dinner for Roxbury Mayor Ronald Farrell (1998-1999) was held in the Mayor’s Committee Clubhouse on Saturday, September 25. Ronnie Farrell and Bob Taphouse with the help of their spouses, Dorothy and Carole, ran the affair. Donald Feimer’s crew from Classic Cuisine catered the delicious dinner. Ronnie introduced Kevin Fox, the next mayor for 1999/2000. He awarded his commissioners with banners and gifts. Paul Armour was the excellent bartender and the two musicians, "Double Exposure," played for the dancers, singers and entertainers. They were Ronnie Farrell, Frankie Monahan, Sonny Livingston, Mike Byrnes, Gene Clifford, Jeanne Byrnes and Edna Reid. Everyone had a good time!
Joe Ferrandino ran the annual block party of St. Genevieve’s on Saturday, September 18 in front of Father Hession hall. There were refreshments. Volunteers who cooked and helped were rewarded with a cute tee-shirt. Richie of "Back Street Band" played the music for dancing and all enjoyed the night.
A double birthday party was held in the Roxbury Catholic Club in honor of Jay O’Rourke and his twin, Connie O’Rourke’s 40 birthday on September 17. There was plenty of refreshments and good food. Jay’s wife, Marian Schmitt O’Rourke, gave the lovely party.
A surprise birthday party was held in the Roxbury Catholic Club on Saturday, September 25 in honor of Mickey Sanders 70 birthday of September 24. He was really surprised and the party was given by his children. Delicious food, good drinks, live music for dancing, and good company made it a great celebration.
Belated birthday wished to Connor Loughran on his first birthday of August 5, 1999. Connor is the son of Danny and Colleen Loughran, grandson of Barbara and Jim Stanton and Wendy and Paul Loughran. Connor enjoyed his first birthday in Roxbury with mom, dad and Grandpa Jim Stanton. Ann, John Mieling Mulally expect to see you in Roxbury on your second birthday.
John Mulally would like to thank his family, neighbors and friends for all their prayers and get well wishes during his confinement in the hospital for surgery. He is doing well now.
