Shamrock Ponies Win 28-12

B.C.A.C Shamrock Ponies coasted to their first victory of this early
season with a 28- 12 romp over the Bayville Falcons.

Patrick Cavnaugh led all scorers with two touchdowns. Cavanaugh opened up the game with a 50 yard touchdown run around the left end as he followed some outstanding blocking from the offense line. Speedster Cavanaugh scored his second touchdown of the game when he led off the second half with a 60 yard kickoff return. The Shamrock offense was spectacular, being led by quarterbacks Shariff Soliman and Benny Gross.

Soliman lead the team up and down the field in the first half with some pinpoint passing to Andy Minami and Dennis McMahon who scored on an extra point conversion. Soliman was error free throughout the first half leading the offense. Benny Gross took over in the second half and did an outstanding job. The offense line had an outstanding game blowing open holes on each side of the line for the running backs. Danny McMahon, Ray Agolia, Ray Newton, Robbie Consolo, Anthony Dello, Brian Madden and Kathy Kelly all contributed to the offensive outburst. The offensive drives were provided by the monster running of Willie Gill, Spenser Daly and Anthony Pagano. Gill scored on a three yard blast up the middle. Spenser "I Can Do It Coach" Daly kicked an extra point right through the uprights which brought the large home crowd at Memorial Field to their feet, Daly was also outstanding on defense making some crushing tackles. The awesome hard running and unbelievable defensive play of Pagano has the league in fear. Pagano was in the opponents backfield all day causing havoc for the offense. Joey Feria
one of the most dynamic players on the team scored a touchdown for his second of the season. Feria has become a fierce player with his ability to run the ball as well as his rough defensive play. The Shamrock defense has been dominating in their first two games being led by middle linebacker Captains Danny McMahon and Willie Gill. McMahon closed the middle all game with some
grueling hits and is probably one of the most feared hitters in the league.
Gill recorded two quarterback sacks and made some big hits. Sean O'boyle had his first interception of the season and had some fine tackles form the corner back position. Connie Denny. Eddy Walls ,Timmy Lenoard, David Bierne, Joe Tyne,Benny Gross and Shariff Soliman all played outstanding on the
field. Coach Gene Guttieri called an outstanding game on the offense side.

Gene was seen smiling all game as his offense had it's way with the opposing defense all day. Coach McMahon had his superior defense rising to the occasion as it held the opponents to just two touchdowns, one coming on the last play of the game. Special teams coach Gerrard Brosnahan was relieved after the game as he survived another week as the special teams coach. After
giving up a touchdown on a punt return in week one coach Gerrard sporting his new coaches shirt was on the demoting block. The Ponies head to Levittown Friday night 8:00 p.m. sharp and take on the tough Levittown team.

The Broad Channel Athletic Club would like to bid a sad farewell to Kevin Boyle who moved on to greener pastures. Kevin was always there for the B.C.A.C. and we
over in the Channel will miss him and his outstanding views from Boyle-ing Points. Good Luck to ya Kevin and welcome to John McLoughlin, hope we can have as good a relationship with you as we did Kevin.
