Beach Channel High School

Beach Channel High School’s business, art, music and technology department’s Career Day was held May 12, 1999.

Guest speakers included the following former graduates of Beach Channel High School: Desmond Barnes, an accountant at Bankers Trust; Andrew L. Boone, payroll manager for the Internal Revenue Service; Eric Franklin Brown, consulting engineer at INACOM, Darryl J. Days, vice president of Communications and Desk Top Support at Bear Sterns Inc.; Willie Rhymes, jr., Network Consultant at Bell Atlantic; and Jerome Summers, managing director of National Health Solutions.

Other guest speakers were Marlon Brown, computer programmer of Advanced Network & Services Inc.; and Patricia Finnegan, supervisor of Recreational Programs of the United Cerebral Palsy of Queens.

Principal Bernard Gassaway welcomed the guest speakers and thanked them for coming to share their work and career experiences with the students.

Closing remarks and words of thanks were made by Ms. Juanita Butcher, coordinator of the business, art, music and technology departments, and Ms. Sheri Meyers, assistant principal of Administration.

Career Day activities were organized and coordinated by business education teachers Frances Shackelford (Career Day chairperson), Michelle Finnegan, Ellen Meltzer and Tracey Waytowich.
