Will Rockaway be here in the spring? Beach erosion continues to be a problem from Beach 9 street all the way to Beach 149 street.Orange markings with dates have been placed around many of the sinkholes and potholes throughout Rockaway. Now, How long will it take to fix them?

 

Did we lose another battle? The Federal Aviation Administration announced that Doppler Radar will be coming to Floyd Bennett. Congressman Weiner promises to fight the decision in federal court. We are still waiting for the CVS/pharmacy sign to be put up in the Dayton Shopping Center. The pharmacy chainstore, which replaced King’s Pharmacy about a month ago, still has a tiny banner hanging outside.

 

The Wave has a new editor. Kevin Boyle "passed the pen" to John McLoughlin, who has served on The Wave’s staff for more than a year as editorial assistant.

Kerry Hills Pub has moved. The popular pub, owned by Jimmy O’Sullivan, is now at 115-10 Rockaway Beach boulevard.

West Enders are ecstatic that summer parking regulations are ending September 30. No more having to play musical cars early in the morning!

Thank Tropical Storm Floyd for the many shells scattered along the beach. Shell collectors or those wanting to give their kids a few hours of fun should head to the beach.

Fall is here--and we definitely feel it! Temperatures have taken a steep drop since Tropical Storm Floyd hit the east coast.New housing for Arverne is coming. Forty, two-family homes are being built through a joint effort of the private and public sector. We are happy that the land won’t lay dormant anymore.
