Scrum Down News:

Big Buzz About All Male Revue

'All Male Revue has neighborhood buzzing.'

With the fall rugby season rapidly approaching, the Rockaway Fisheads are preparing themselves for a competive, fun-filled season. There is much on the horizon, as matches and events will commence on Labor Day week end. Practice has begun and all new players are welcome to attend every Thursday night at 7 p.m. under the lights at Ft. Tilden. Coach Andy Israel has stressed that experience is not necessary, and all athletes are invited to join the club.

Labor Day week end will get underway Friday night (Sept. 3) at the clubhouse when the Fisheads host their first ever All Male Revue Party. This charitable event will be open to ladies only, with professional male entertainers performing from 8 p.m. until midnight. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. And the rugby club will be off limits to gentlemen until after midnight. Cocktails, buffet style food, and other refreshments will be served, for more information contact John or Jimmy at the clubhouse.

The Ruggers will take to the pitch for a preseason match on Sunday September 5 at the old football field at 150 street and Rockaway Beach boulevard. This site will be used for home matches while repairs are being made on our home pitch within Ft. Tilden. Rockaway will be taking on southern powerhouse Atlanta Old White. Game time is 1 p.m. and a beach party will follow as a prelude to the annual hat party celebration. The clubhouse will again be prepared for the hat party celebration as a tent and deejay will be ready to go.

The Fishead world cup tour is also rapidly approaching and spots are being gobbled up like Dave Mc-Gowen at an all you can eat special. The trip begins in Lester, England on October 7 and travels to Dublin and Wales with matches being played along the way. The Fisheads will be hosted by Wayne Fox's home club, Syston RFC. and World Cup matches will be attended in all three cities. Anyone interested contact John at the clubhouse.

Rugger Pluggers:

The Fisheads send a fond farewell to Aussie Pete "Big Kahuna" McCoy who is on his way back to Sydney after a month long fiesta in the Rockaways. Sorry Ladies, no Kahuna at the All Male Revue! but fear not--- McCoy promises another visit next summer.

Congrats to George and Barney Johnson on winning their volley ball division and good luck to George in his upcoming freestyle skateboarding competition. Torty is registered in the over 35 bracket and as of this writing, he was the only competitor.

Speaking of Torty, Our top 5 Tortys: 5. Torty McCabe, 4. Torty Johnson, 3. Torty Ferguson, 2. Torty Ebert, 1. Torty Brennan

Tough Luck to all those locals who unsuccessfully tried out for All Male Revue. Better luck next year; however, numerous requests have come our way regarding quite a few neighborhood fellas. Some our most requested include Mark "Malibu Guy" Aiken, Pat Connolly and Chris Zamm of Connollys, Arthur "the Kavorka" Fitzpatrick, Eddie Britt, Eddie Tolan, Kevin Nelson, and Seany Carlton. Come on down guys, the ladies are waiting.
