Krzysztof Ciesla Of Rockaway Park

Private services were held for Krzysztof Ciesla. Born in Poland, Mr. Ciesla had moved to Rockaway Park and worked as a construction worker. He died August 8, 1999.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ciesla and a brother, Marian Ciesla.

Interment was to take place in Laszczow Cemetery in Poland.

Margaret (Madge) Faulhaber
Of Rockaway Park

Funeral services for Mary Faulhaber were held August 9 at the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc., Rockaway Beach.

Mary worked for the Belco Pharmaceutical Supply Company and was a resident of Rockaway Park for 50 years. She died August 6, 1999.

She is survived by husband Robert; sons James, Robert, Thomas, John, and Patrick; daughters Maryann, Jane Forzano, and Beth Ferro; five grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Liz.

Interment under the direction of the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc. of Rockaway Beach was in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island, New York.

Abby Helmsorig Of Arverne

Abby Helmsorig, born in Brooklyn, was an Arverne resident for 30 years. Mrs. Helmsorig worked as a manager in the New York City Human Resources Administration. She died August 16, 1999.

Widow of Fritz Helmsorig, she is survived by daughter Gladys Helmsorig; brother Larry Sternberg; and one grandchild.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc. of Rockaway Beach was scheduled for Friday, August 20, in Long Island National Cemetery, Pine Lawn, Long Island.

Dominic J. Lopopolo
Served in the Army

A Memorial Mass for Dominic J. Lopopolo was celebrated on August 16 at St. Thomas More, Breezy Point.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Lopopolo lived in Breezy Point for 13 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during WWII, from 1943-1946, and left as a Tech 4.

Mr. Lopopolo was a member of Carpenter’s Union 1536 and was also a member of the Connelly Post American Legion. He died August 12, 1999.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice May Reilly; son Eugene Lopopolo; daughter Diana Ortado; brother Vincent Lopopolo; and sisters Antoinette Lomax and Sadie Lopopolo.

Viewing was scheduled at Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc. of Rockaway Beach, followed by private ceremonies.

Bernard James Roan
Served in the Navy

Mass of Christian burial for Bernard James Roan were celebrated August 16 at St. Helen’s Church, Howard Beach.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Roan was a resident of Howard Beach for 34 years. A United States Navy veteran, he served from 1945-1946 and left as Seaman First Class.

Mr. Roan worked at Chase Bank as a computer programmer. He was also a founding member of both the Usher’s Society and the Lector’s Society of St. Helen’s church. He died August 12, 1999.

The widower of Mary May O’Connor, he is survived by sons Bernard, jr., Kerry, Peter, and Timothy; daughters Catherine Guzzardo and Maureen Petro; and nine grandchildren.

Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home Inc. of Rockaway Beach was in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
