Dot on Roxbury

by Dotty Taphouse

Kyle James Serrian, son of Doreen and Jim Serrian, entered our world on March 1, 1999 and was baptized on August 8, 1999 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Massapequa Park by Reverend Father Mason. A great Christening party was held after the beautiful ceremony at Sergio’s Restaurant with a sit down dinner, drinks and a beautiful delicious cake. Kyle’s happy godparents are Tricia Bilella and Glen Taphouse. The delighted grandparents are Mary and Bob Serrian and Phyllis and Howie Taphouse. The great grandmas are Dolly Waryold and (me) Dotty Taphouse.

Michaela Patricia Dalton was born on April 20, 1999 and baptized on August 7 at St. Thomas More’s Church by a good friend of the family, Reverend Father Paul Landolfi, and attended by her godmother Patricia O’Dea and her godfather Mark Dalton. A wonderful Christening celebration was held at the Rockaway Point Catholic Club with family and friends. The delicious food was catered by the 101 Deli and of course with Jerry Bonadanna’s special touch the food was excellent. Michaela’s proud parents are Kathy and Chris Dalton and the very proud grandparents are Patricia and Frank Kelly of Rockaway Point and Joan and Jack Dalton of Rockaway Beach.

A group of women of Roxbury went miniature golfing on Tuesday, August 10 and returned to the Roxbury Catholic Club to enjoy a Chinese dinner and homemade goodies. Patt Sheridan was the gracious chairlady and she had prizes for those who made a hole-in-one. Gloria Henry was the big winner with two holes-in-one. Tinker Sweeney, Joanne Norris and Linda Pardini each had a hole-in-one. Mary Bosch had the best score. A very pleasant day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Terry Donohoe-August 26.
