Ed’s Fishing Station

by Ed Kaufman

Dennis Mundy and his son Danny went fishing Friday morning down by the Coney Island pier. They made many drifts with lots of shorts. "Plenty of action," said Dennis.

And then Danny said to his father-"I’ve got something big." And so he did. After 15 minutes or so a six pound, 24 inch fluke came aboard the boat. The only keeper for the day, but it was a nice fish.

John Smiley and his friend Manny fished Ambros Channel and had 20 keeper fluke on Saturday.

Drew Allen was fishing west of the jetty with some of his friends and hooked a 200 pound Duskee Shark in the fin. Battled for half an hour or so and busted the pole. As much as Drew was mad about the pole breaking, the fish gave him so much fun he forgot about the pole.

Porgie action is picking up very good with the cool weather. I think fishing will change for the better.
