Dot on Roxbury

by Dotty Taphouse

Maggee Rose Sheridan, daughter of Jennifer and Glenn Sheridan, on her Christening Day-July 24, 1999.

Maggee Rose Sheridan was baptized Saturday July 24, 1999 at St. Genevieve’s Church in Roxbury. The beautiful ceremony was performed by Reverend Father Jack. Pat Rodman and Michael Nestor are the proud grandparents. Terry and Jerry Gearity and Patt Sheridan are the grandparents and the great grandparents, Tom and Theresa Kearney, were all there to celebrate this special day with Maggee’s parents, Jennifer and Glenn, and big brothers Harry and Luke Sheridan. A lovely Christening party was held afterwards at the Roxbury Catholic Club with delicious food from Classic Cuisine and a clown to entertain the children. A good time was had by all.

The Mayor’s Committee of Roxbury had their annual drawing and dinner on Saturday, July 24 in the Mayor’s Clubhouse. Frannie Jamin of JAMCO and his crew catered the delicious dinner. Rusty Ris and Bob Schroeder were the very good and busy bartenders. Danny McMahon, Gene Clifford, Richie Bosch, Bob Taphouse, etc. ran the affair. The music was supplied by Danny O’Connor and Phil Maguire of Double Exposure. Singers Frankie Monahan and Mike Byrnes sang songs with excellent voices. Smiling happy winners and another fantastic night.

A surprise birthday party was held in the Roxbury Catholic Club on July 31 in honor of Maureen Ris and a half year birthday of January 31. It was really a great surprise and was given by hr husband Cliffie Ris. The delicious food D.J. and drinks were the best and there was a very unique birthday cake and many lovely gifts.

The Gladiola band of Roxbury celebrated their 75 anniversary in Father Hession hall on July 31. Timmy Feimer, now head of the band, was in charge of the party. The delicious food was catered by the Roxbury Barn II. Frank Radice and Richie McEnroe were honored guests. A good DJ for dancing and the Gladiola entertained with a few good songs. If you are musically inclined join the Gladiola band and have fun!

August started off with the Roxbury Catholic Club’s communion breakfast on the first. Reverend Father Jack attended and introduced Reverend Ronald Newland, a colonel in the air force who gave a very interesting talk. The food was very good and catered by members of the Catholic Club. Mary Kammerer was in charge of reservations. Another good day.

Happy Birthday Christie Durante- August 1; Tinker Sweeney-August 13; and Ruth Simpson-August 13.

Love Dot.
