Jet-ski idiots continue to plague the local waterways. On Tuesday afternoon, six jet-skiiers were playing "chicken" near the ram at Beach Channel High School.

The fireworks show on Tuesday evening was spectacular and many said it was the biggest crowd ever. The absence of elected officials was noted---and enjoyed by some. Someone said the Mayor’s rep stopped and ran off so fast it looked like he dropped an M-80.

There was a grass fire around Beach 219 street in Breezy late Saturday. The Volunteers Fire Department extinguished it.

We hear there are just a small handful of applicants to fill the superintendents job in District 27. We called the district office and they gave us the old, no comment.

Speaking of past superintendents, Kevin Buckley became one when he resigned from Gateway to take the General Manager’s position at the Breezy Point Co-op.

Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer will be meeting with Keyspan officials about their plans for Beach 108 street. Keyspan has worked out an agreement with DEC to do environmental studies of many of their locations, one of which is the Beach 108 street.

Man bites dog item: It’s August and the Mets have a better record than the Yankees. Of course, the Yankees have a bigger lead in their division and remain true favorites to win the pennant. The Mets? Fans, enjoy it while you can.

There’s another credit card scam in the works. A caller says there’s something wrong with your card number and they’ll provide a code number to protect it. They get your number and run with it. Don’t give out your number!

Beware of greed-eyed flies. They’ve reportedly bit into some people down here causing allergic reactions.
