Ocean Park Horrible!

Dear Editor;

The conditions at Ocean Park are still as horrible as they were when some one set our elevators on fire on May 15, 1999.

We still have only one elevator in operation and it is being run by the Maintenance Department. The residents must call down to the security desk and request that the elevator operator stop and pick them up. Many times you have to call two or three times for a pick-up, because the elevator will pass you by. There are 300 apartments in our building and sometimes when the operator gets to your floor he has a full load and he can not stop to pick you up.

Senator Waldon, Congressman Weiner and Ed Williams from Congressman Meeks’ office were all here and they were shocked when they saw the conditions that we are forced to live with. Not only one elevator in operation, but sometimes the elevator is shut down because it runs 24 hours a day and it breaks down.

Ocean Park was a wonderful place to live until RY Management took over as the managing agent. They do not care if the building is falling apart, if the residents are living under horrible conditions and they have no compassion for disabled residents.

We are living in a death trap and Mr. Edmonds, the on-site manager, does not care. All he is interested in is collecting their rents.

God help us all!
