Ed’s Fishing Station

by Ed Kaufman

When is this heat going to give up! No new news to report this week. Fishing is still slow, but then again, people are not fishing. It is just too hot!

From the shore, porgies and sea bass are still very small with a few keepers at Beach 9 street (Atlantic Beach), but lots of action.

Fluke are still slow, hard to say what’s going on. Not too many people are fishing.

Striped bass still doing fair to good reported John Smiley, "yougy" to his friends. His friend Manny reported "you can always catch one or two keepers by the west piece off Breezy Point." John said "the heat is not helping, there have been lots of sand shark lately."

Crabs are climbing out of the water its so hot. Seems like they can’t breath and they just want out.

Well make the best of it, stay out of the sun and keep the boating safe.

For the "reel," most up-to-date fishing news around town, stop by Ed’s Fishing Station or call 474-2191.
