Basketball Camp At McClancy High

Msgr McClancy High School will sponsor its 17th annual summer basketball day camp for boys (7-15 years old) beginning Monday, August 9 through Friday August 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A bus will pick up the campers every morning outside of St. Francis DeSales at 8:15 a.m. and return them between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. The bus will be supervised by Coach Don Kent, the boy’s varsity basketball coach at McClancy and director of the camp.

Every camper will receive a regulation size basketball and a camp t-shirt. Each camper will have an opportunity to win prizes in the raffle which are held after lunch each day. Hats, jackets, t-shirts, basketballs, sneakers, posters and bags are just some of the items the kids can win. There will be a foul-shooting contest and a one-on-one competition for each team in league throughout the week. The camp will be divided into three leagues based on age and ability. Every camper will play two games per day and on Friday the playoffs will begin.

Monday to Thursday teaching stations will be held to teach the youngsters the fundamentals of the game. Trophies will be awarded to every member of the winning team in each division, an MVP, Mr. Hustle and Sportsmanship trophy will also be awarded. The cost of the camp is $140 and bus transportation is $35.00 for the week.

Every summer a group of boys have always had a fun learning experience at the Msgr. McClancy camp. For information and a brochure call the school.
