Got Computer Questions?
I thought this week that I would let you in on a small tip that may be of use to you. Last Monday, there was a lightning storm and a bolt of lightning must have hit a post outside. The charge traveled through the phone lines and into my computer leaving my modem in ruins, not to mention it was a top of the line modem (U.S Robotics 56k V .90). The point is, it's not only important to plug your computers power into a surge protector, but also the phone line plugged into your modem. If you don't have a surge protector for your power yet, I suggest buying one from a local hardware store, make sure it also has a jack to protect your phone line. If you already have a surge protector, but do not have a phone line protector, I suggest unplugging your phone line from your computer during lightning storms until you do purchase a phone line protector.
For those of you who used my tip last week for designing their own web page, there was a small typo in the web site for the HTML tutorial. There is no dash in http://www.learnhtml.com. The dash was only added because the website was cut in half to get to the next line.
