Conductor Impersonator Arrested

by Joan Ward George

Eddie Brown, of Kessina boulvard, was arrested last Thursday at the Mott avenue "A" line subway station for impersonating a New York city transit conductor.

Transit Officer Irasema Negro first noticed Brown, 17, at 9:30 a.m. dressed in a NYCTA conductor’s uniform and acting in a suspicious manner. Brown motioned to the token booth clerk to open the entrance gate and then walked through the gate. When Officer Negron asked Brown for his identification, the officer was told he left them at home. According to police, TA Superintendent Jones was called to the scene and advised Negron that Brown was, in deed, not an employee of the NYCTA .

Brown was charged with criminal impersonation and the case is being enhanced by the Transit Division Special Investigations Unit.

At the time of his arrest, Brown was in possession of a NYCTA radio, 16 NyCTA keys, 2 department issued orange vests and other miscellaneous transit property.

Brown has prior arrests for impersonating transit officers within the confines of Transit District #23.
