Salute To Vets

sDear Editor:

A little bit of a sideline about last week's Memorial Day parade....As I marched with the Jewish War Veterans there was a lady who called to each of us as we passed, saying, "Thank you, Thank you." I assume she did this to all the units of veterans who marched. Also in the parade was a rather youngish man, an amputee on crutches. He joined us at Beach 116 street and marched almost all the way getting into one of the cars for a short while and then joining us again. I don't know his name but he impressed me.

Jack Braunstein who admits to being 83 and may be older is blind. He marched the whole way as did Paul Gordon 88. I imagine that similar facts could be gleaned from other organizations ranks. I only knew about the JWV marchers. We may be getting older. Congress may have forgotten the veterans but the veterans have not forgotten our country.
