A Great Performance

Dear Editor,

As a graduate of Far Rockaway High School I was glad to learn that scenes from West Side Story were being performed at the school. On Friday, June 4, I took my suburban children to my alma mater to see this stellar production. First off, let me say my kids (10 and 14) were in awe of the size and beauty of Far Rock. It way outshines the one floor high school my daughter attends. The auditorium is as glorious as I remember. My 10 year old’s school stage is the gym. The 14 year old’s school uses the cafeteria for productions. All this was impressive but nothing compared to the caliber of the production we saw tonight. The magnificent voices of the lead performers was a joy to behold. The dancing was superb as was the acting. We were stunned at the accomplishments of these young people. My older daughter said at the conclusion of the musical that she "would have been honored to have been a chorus member". That is great praise indeed. Congratulations to the cast congratulations to the director, and congratulations to the principal for having such a talented student body. You all should be very proud.
