House Vacated: Another One Bites The Dust
Another Rockaway Park house was issued a vacate order on the heels of last weeks closing of two unsafe homes and partial vacate of a third.
168 Beach 115 street was closed by the Buildings Department after numerous violations were found, including flooding and waste in the basement. Jonathan Gaska, district manager of Community Board 14, called the house a "nightmare.
The Wave reported last week that 118-07 Rockaway Beach boulevard and 172 Beach 115 street were closed and tenants were told they had to leave. Gaska explained that the Department of Housing, Preservation and Development (HPD) will be locking up the doors and boarding up the windows of these locations within a few days.
Captain Scirica of the 100 Precinct said that if former tenants or any other individual tries to go into these locations, they will be charged with trespassing. For tenants that still need to remove clothing or furniture, Scirica said that they must notify HPD before they enter.
