Homicide In The 100th

17 Year Old Murdered
By Joan Ward George

Seventeen year old James Moultrie, of Rosedale, was shot to death at about 7 p.m. Friday night at the Carleton Manor houses located at 71-15 Beach Channel drive. Moultrie’s death marks the first homicide in the 100 Precinct in 18 months.

Police are operating on the assumption that Moultrie was shot during a robbery attempt by someone that he knew. A gold chain and crucifix that Moultrie received for his birthday just a week ago, valued at approximately $200, were stolen during the robbery and homicide. Sources close to the investigation relayed news that the police are close to making an arrest in the case.

A Springfield Gardens High School student, Moultrie lived in Rosedale but had friends in Far Rockaway. It is speculated that the young victim was on his way to see friends when he was robbed and murdered.
