Dorothy Dunne on the Tonight Show set at opening of new NBC store at 30 Rockefeller Center, Manhattan.

by Dorothy Dunne

At the Buckley/Kennedy HeartShare memorial run party for Frances Agogliah last Sunday in Riis Park, the kitchen staff at Kennedy’s won the bog prize of $10,000. Congratulations, guys. Enjoy it!

Four thousand people attended including Frances’ husband and son, Jamie. In fact, there was a better turnout than last year, more than three or 400 more. And, of course, that means more profit for the HeartShare cause. (Some of those who benefit from your generosity were there in wheel chairs).

As I strolled around the park, I met Freddie the Mustard Man who applied the yellow condiment with aplomb: the Sulkster (Hot rock flame throwing Brain Jay, Big Sky Butler), Mark Malahu, and Guy Aiken: Tara Luhrs who just returned from Disneyworld. She is originally from Brooklyn and now lives with her parents and brother in Breezy Point. Her cousin, Robert Luhrs, was with her and he just got back from Cancun. Of course, I told him about my trip, 45 minutes away in Playacar at the Royal Hideaway where, by the way, including everything else I mentioned about it last week, has a bocce court. Thank you Kevin Boyle for reminding me. If you read Kevin’s column last week he mentioned my interjection of sports such as the bocce players at the B.P.S.C. in my column. This was his retort to a reader who criticized him for not limiting his column to sports only (Maybe Kevin should change the title of his column to "Sports and Spice and Not Everything Nice" that brings us to the "Boyle-ing Point"). I’ve been ignoring his references up until now, but I guess he needs more of a following…Have to admit he does have a good flair for writing. (Must give the devil his due).

The Sugar Bowl opens this Friday, May 21 with the senior happy hours starting at 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday with Mr. Glib (Paul Kavanagh) at the helm. And I am sure Jim Brennan’s famous pork with honey sauce hot sandwiches and more will be available. Drink your Bud and meet your buddies and have fun while you can. (canes, crutches, wheelchairs, motor scooters, etc., are permitted and welcome). Just get here somehow. Joe Kilbride unfortunately will not be able to make it. He is flying to Florida for a week. Won’t be the same without you, Joe.

A very big Happy Birthday to my favorite manicurist and nail designer, Janet of Janet’s Salon. Had some of her birthday cake last week from Beach 129 street bakery and it was yummy. Don’t know how old Janet is (not very) but she never seems to age. Keep it up!

At the beautiful Chanel showroom on West 57 street in Manhattan, I attended a reception for the eight Chanel/Seventeen New Model of the Year finalist. They will all experience life as a model and participate in a photo shoot and appear on the pages of the magazine. One will appear on the cover of the September issue of "Seventeen". Look for it!

Revlon introduced a new ColorStay Liquid Lip lipstick that will not kiss off. It comes in 26 liquid colors and is applied with a padded stick. I should get it myself because I recently infected my lip with a lip liner pencil when I got one of the slivers of wood in my lip. An expensive antibiotic lip salve and antibiotics finally cleared it up. That .99 cent lip liner turned out to be very expensive and caused temporary disfiguring. (Not good for my TV appearances). Be careful when you use them. In fact, don’t use them at all. Try a lip brush or the new ColorStay.

A new NBC store opened at 30 Rockefeller Center last week with all sorts of fun things for children and adults. You can pretend you are the host of the Today Show as I did (see photo) on their make believe set. There are other NBC sets you can choose. But, since I used to appear every day weekly on the Today Show, I chose that.
