The seawall on the bayfront between Beach Channel High School on Beach Channel drive and the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge is a favorite fishing spot that attracts fisherman from around the City.
Fishing off the bay wall, surfing the ocean, shopping at Beach 116th street or eating in one of the quality seafood restaurants is just some of the many activities one can do in Rockaway Park. This neighborhood, from Beach 98th street to Beach 125th street, consists of many two-family homes, converted bungalows and single room occupancies, many that still rent out for summer visitors. Beach 116th street, a shopping district resembling Main Street USA, is lined with historic structured buildings. It is the hub of many activities, including the Family Fun Faire, Rockaway Irish Parade, Old Fashion Bathing Beauty Contest, Night Out Against Crime Parade and Fireworks, and the Rockaway Park Playhouse.
