Jacob Riis Park: A popular New York City beach area just west of Neponsit and east of Fort Tilden features a guarded swimming area, food service, restrooms, baseball fields, basketball courts, and an 18 hole par 3 golf course. The famous bathhouse, boardwalk, and outdoor clock have been New York City landmarks since the 1930s. The huge parking lot, constructed in 1934, was once the largest in the world.

Fort Tilden: A 317 acre former U.S. Army base, Fort Tilden was part of the harbor defense system of New York City until the 1970s. Visitors can hike through the back fort area to explore nature trails and remnants of the military era, participate in organized athletics, or attend special events. Fort Tilden is the home of the Rockaway Little League.
