The old St. Johns Church building constructed in the 1870's, on Mott avenue and Beach 19th street, is the oldest church structure still standing in the Rockaways.

Completing the east end of the Rockaways, from Beach 32nd street east to the Nassau County border is Far Rockaway. Mott Avenue, off of Beach 20th street in the heart of Far Rockaway, is another shopping area that offers everything from fresh fish, clothes, health foods, restaurants, shoes, electronics, and bargain items. Follow Mott Avenue north to the end and Bayswater is reached. Bayswater is an insular neighborhood of private one and two family homes overlooking Jamaica Bay. Besides the large number of families in Far Rockaway, senior citizens have flocked to the area to live in one of the several senior housing developments that line the beach front along Seagirt Avenue.
