May: Flowers Stall, A Line Roars Back, Beaches Open
May flowers were a little late, if they came at all. Sandy seemed to upset nature’s time clock as flowers and trees budded later than usual. Grass had a sad brown color. Many plants and trees, especially evergreens, never recovered. But life was seen elsewhere as Little Leagues played ball, the A Train roared back after being out of action for seven months, and the Parks Department declared the beaches open.
