Chamber, PHC Host Rockaway Kids For Safety Breakfast


The Chamber of Commerce of the Rockaways and Peninsula Hospital Center teamed up last Tuesday morning for a Safety Breakfast that was held at the Beach Club. More than 50 local children came to have a good breakfast and to learn how to stay safe during the summer months.

Police Officer Brian McCabe of the 100 Precinct spoke about crossing the street and about bicycle safety. He also introduced McGruff, the crime fighting dog.
Fire Lieutenant Michael Camarco spoke about fire safety.

Police Officer Glenn Lewter from Transit District 23 spoke about safety on the subways and buses.
Willie Guzman wowed the kids with his balloon creations.

Dr. Olawepo, the Pediatrics Department director for PHC had the kids enthralled.
Captain Mark Wattenberg (TD 23), PO Brian McCabe (100 Pct.) PO Glenn Lewter (TD 23), nutrionist Steve Kamlet (PGH) and Liz Sulik await their turn to speak with the children who attended the Safety Breakfast.

McGruff was a favorite with the youngsters.
Liz Sulik, the Director of External Affairs for PHC told the kids about the hospital and its services.
