Madison Square Boys and Girls Club News

Since October 2003, the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, Far Rockaway Clubhouse have been operating the African Dance Program in collaboration with Remember Drummers Inc. The children have named the group “The Rockaway Spearhead Dancers” and have worked hard in preparing the Second Annual Kwanzaa Festival, the Community Empowerment Seminar in Laurelton and the Clubhouse Awards Ceremony on April 23. The children are between the ages of 6 and 12. Raphael Sanders and Empress Adama coordinate the program.

The Clubhouse recently celebrated the Ninth Annual Community Spring/Easter Eggstravaganza. The children made Easter hats and bunny ears as well as spending time with the 6-foot Easter Bunny. The children also participated in an egg and spoon race, musical chairs, face painting and an egg hunt. Nicole Johnson, DeShawn Mason and Catherine Molyneux coordinated the event.
