Arthur Ashe Essay Contest

The New York Tennis League is sponsoring a contest for all five New York boroughs for students up to 18-years, in 300 words or less to answer the question, "Why is Arthur Ashe a Legend?" On an 8 ½ x 11 paper, all entries must be returned to the Educational Service Department, NYJTL, 24-16 Queens Plaza South, Room 206, Long Island City, New York 11101 by May 27, 2004.

Ten winners from each of the five boroughs will be selected to win a plaque and will be chosen to be a guest of the New York Junior Tennis League in its suite on Arthur Ashe Kids Day on August 28th. Winners will also receive two seats at the US OPEN during the finals weekend. Entries will be judged on knowledge of Arthur Ashe, clarity, and writing style. The teacher from each borough that has their class submit the most entries will receive two seats at a US OPEN finals weekend session as well.
