Young Gloves Searches For Future Champs

The community of Far Rockaway will be introduced to an exciting new program called the Youth Gloves Boxing Club. This program is centered on the sport of boxing while simultaneously confronting some of the issues that the youth are face with.

The Young Gloves Boxing Club believes that though boxing is a violent sport, it is well known to be an effective means of producing and instilling discipline, good health, mental strength and endurance. Boxing has proven itself to be a positive force even in those kids considered to be the most rebellious.

The program targets the physical aspect by teaching such techniques as

Punching, defense footwork and equipment training. It also stresses the importance of nutrition, non-violence, anti drug awareness and other relevant subjects. All training is non-contact and safety, professionalism and ensuring that everyone is impacted positively are our primary concerns.

The Young Gloves Boxing Club classes are held at 72-34 Burchell Avenue. Registration will be held at the gym on Sunday, May 2, 12 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Please bring the first month’s payment and if possible, your child‘s completed physical examination form and a passport-sized photo.
