Even Less Parking On B. 116

Facing the loss of several hundred parking spots on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Rockaway residents found that fifteen parking spots, a number of them designated for Handicapped Parking, were removed from the mix by the Department of Transportation (DOT) in order to facilitate parking for police officers from Transit District 23, whose temporary headquarters are in the northern end of the Waldbaum’s parking lot only steps away. Those parking spots were used heavily by shoppers along the Beach 116 Street shopping street. Pictured, the stretch of the Municipal Lot where parking for civilians is no longer allowed.
