Excavation for the new Dayton Park sewer recently uncovered the former Ocean Electric Railway tracks in Fairview Avenue (now Beach 84 Street) and brought back memories to a lot of old timers. Since the statue of Christ was toppled in front of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, consideration is being given to keeping it inside the church in the future. Alarmed at the prospect of Edgemere becoming a "welfare town" with recipients renting bungalows in the area, the Edgemere Civic Association discussed the influx of relief recipients in the community. A 6-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a car at the intersection of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 75 Street. The Somerville-Arverne Civic Associ ation will support the Seaside Prop erty Owners Association in opposing the Title One project in Seaside.
