A third period goal by defenseman Danny Honovic lifted the Stars Bantam "B" team to a 3-1 victory over the PAL Blue Knights in a game play ed at the Abe Stark arena.

Suffering from an apparent case of the post-holiday blues, the Stars and their fans suffered through a period of uninspired hockey. Seizing the opportunity, the Blue Knights went to work; forcing the Stars into numerous turn overs until, at the 9:14 mark, they converted one of their chances. Pinned deep in their end, the Stars defense coughed up the puck at the right face off circle. The PAL forward gathered in the puck, skated in on goaltender Rick Cibrano, and slipped the puck by his desperate lunge. Despite the goal, Cibrano was sharp in net, and his goaltending kept the deficit at one after the first period.

The Stars got the game winner 1:28 into the third period on a play that began innocently as a Stars attempt to gain the PAL zone. Just before crossing center ice, Danny Honovic fired a slap shot toward the Blue Knights net. When his rising shot eluded the goaltender’s glove, the Stars had a 2-1 lead.

The Stars got an insurance goal at the 9:49 mark, courtesy of the quick hands of Dmitry Zagorodnyk. Matt Gal leano skated into the PAL zone, and fired a cross-ice pass from the top of the face off circle to Zagorodnyk stationed to the goaltender’s left. Without hesitation, he unleashed a wicked wrist shot past the overmatched Blue Knights goalie. The victory tightened the Stars hold on third place in the LIAHL standings.
