for larger version       Addabbo FHC Asks Help In Construction Plan The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center has launched a new fundraiser for capital to build its new home at 6200 Beach Channel Drive. The major facet of the fundraising drive is a "Buy-A-Brick" campaign. In a joint effort with the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC), the health center is trying to raise in excess of $250 thousand towards the construction of the proposed $10 million facility. Those who want to assist the fundraising effort can buy a brick inscribed with the name of an individual or a company for $250. There are not restrictions but good taste on what a brick may say, and many people plan to use the brick to memorialize family members, one official said. Groundbreaking for the new facility, located at Beach 62 Street and Beach Channel Drive, will be held on February 20 at 11 a.m. The Addabbo Family Health Center provides comprehensive health services to indigent and underserved residents of the Rockaway peninsula. "This is an important time for the Rockaway peninsula," said Curtis Archer, the executive director of the RDRC. "The provide this important service, we must engage not just our political representatives and corporate leaders, but the community. This ensures the vitality of the Rockaways."
