Men’s Tennis Benefits St. John’s Episcopal
The St. John’s Episcopal Hospital South Shore Annual Men’s Doubles Pro-Am Tennis Tournament was held on the grass courts of the beautiful Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, NY, on June 11, 2003. Funds raised will go towards enhancing equipment in the hospital’s Emergency Department, intensive care and cardiac care units, surgical services and other areas as needed. With 332 acute care beds, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital South Shore provides a full range of medical and surgical care. It also is a major provider of comprehensive primary care. The Hospital operates the only 24-hour obstetrical service and the only comprehensive outpatient and inpatient mental health center in the community. It is a designated 911 receiving hospital and the only psychiatric receiving facility for the Rockaways. St. John’s provided 83,117 days of patient care in 2001. A multi-disciplinary teaching hospital, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital South Shore offers a fully accredited graduate medical education program in internal medicine that is affiliated with State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and fully accredited osteopathic graduate medical education programs in family practice, general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology and dermatology. Recently St. John’s opened a renovated 13,000 sq. ft. Surgical Care Center. The Surgical Care Center and post-surgery unit are equipped with 24-hour monitoring and a state-of-the-art surgeon’s treatment room and nursing station designed for immediate transmission of vital patient information. The Surgical Care Center also features VIP-style private and semi-private patient rooms.
