A Soggy Native American Pow Wow Wows Local Residents

Although a driving rain pushed the Native American Pow Wow indoors at Fort Tilden a week ago, thousands attended the event, including many local residents who reported amazement at the Native American dances and at the crafts and food that were available.


Native American music was a big hit at the two-day affair.
A young man takes part in a Native American dance, traditionally used to stimulate a hunt.

Many young children took part in the dance contests.
Intricate beadwork was in evidence in many of the traditional costumes worn by the dancers and musicians.
