Dancers Rock At New York Dance Festival

Dancers from the Connelly Dance Centers of Rockaway Park and Richmond Hill rocked their way to top awards at the New York Dance Festivals this spring. Director Ellen Connelly remarked, "our students outdid themselves, they exceeded their teachers expectations. Watching our students improve from each competition fills us with pride and makes all the hard work worthwhile."

Some of the top awards went to "In The Mood," a tap routine that received High Honors and Top Score. First place winners included "Insane" (lyrical), "Thriller" (MTV jazz), "Wouldn’t It Be Loverly" (ballet), "We’re In The Money" (Top Tap Score and Top Group Champion), Christina’s Jump Off (Christina Ramos, Runner-up Senior Champion), "Reggae Mix" (Emma Wolfe, junior champion), "Crazy" (Top Score and Best Costume).

Individual kudos went to Taylor Johnson for leadership, Kara Spencer – Most Graceful, Shannon Dinerman – Best Feet, Alix Slosberg – High Score Jazz, Rachel Shapiro – Broadway Bound, Lollipop Tree Tots – Sweet as Sugar, Elija Washington – Mr. Suave, Kenisha Baptiste – Charisma, Katie Spenser – Song and Dance, Alix Slosberg – High Score, Jamarah Dow – Bright Star Award, Miss Alana Baily – Best Choreography.


Tiffany Siederman, Tashawni Channer, Coach Nina Rigas, Elija Washington, Clara Romano, and Garensha Washington.
