Arverne Delivery System Blights Happiness

Diagonally across the street from my home is a big Arverne lot. So the Sanitation Department strips off the topsoil and living vegetation, threatens with arrest if the public does not leave it (in habitual public use for years – a wide open lot), and replaces it with an urban landfill grade mix of non-putrescible garbage mixed with topsoil. The topper is the use of trucks without license plates (front nor rear). A dumping sign there has an ironic ring to it there!
This Department has also stripped the steel curbing edge, where I live, and l3eft a spiked end not to be parked near (a messy snow removal operation that scarred a number of Beach Channel Drive curbs).
So when in early May the delivery of fire retardant (actually spillage from a damaged truck) to the street that brought on a Sanitation officer with van and a big tow truck, it seems to be part of a chain of happenings. I was assured it would be cleaned up and it was. An interesting blitz all the same and not happiness producing.
