for larger version       75th Communion Breakfast Set On Sunday, April 27, the Rockaway Council Knights of Columbus and Columbiettes will hold their Seventy-Fifth Annual Corporate Communion Breakfast. The day will begin with a mass, to be celebrated at St. Camillus Church (Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 100 Street) at 10:30 a.m. The mass will be celebrated by the Council’s Chaplain, Mgsr. William F. Burke, whom has faithfully served the Council for the past 52 years. The organization was originally called the Sy. Camillus K of C in honor of the first chaplain of the organization, who was a pastor at that church. Immediately following the Mass, all those attending the Breakfast, who are able to walk the distance, are being asked to join an escort by the Knights of Columbus Fourth Honor Guard and a few Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Pipers. A delicious buffet breakfast will be served at the Council, located at 333 Beach 90 Street. The honorary speaker is one of Rockaway’s favorite sons, Rev. Peter Rayder. The Knights of Columbus will also present service awards to those members whom, during the past year, truly exemplified the virtues of the Order; namely, charity, unity, and fraternity. The Rockaway Knights of Columbus was founded on April 10, 1928. Throughout the years, theorganization has been an asset to the Rockaway community, donating not only to the various local charities and children’s sports activities, but providing numerous volunteer hours. The members of the council and the Columbiettes extend an invitation to all of the community to attend this historic event and keep the tradition rolling along. Seats are available for a nominal fee at the Council, ask a member or call the Council. Members and their families, and friends of the Council are encouraged to attend.
