Chamber Invites Participation In Resource Guide

The Chamber of Commerce is inviting Rockaway residents to participate in creating the Premiere Edition of its Rockaway Resource Guide.

The Chamber of Commerce is developing an attractive glossy-covered "Who, What, When, Where, and Why" magazine devoted to the Rockaway Peninsula in response to the hundreds of requests for information about our community that come to us throughout the year.

Businesses and organization that wish to advertise in the resource guide are encouraged to reserve ad space now. Full, half, quarter, and business card size ads, including coupons are available. There is also a limited number of glossy black and white, as well as color pages planned for the guide.

The guide will provide general and specific information about Rockaway, its resources, businesses, professionals, restaurants, civic associations, elected officials, various agencies, education, places of worship, annual activities, transportation, arts, culture, a brief community history. Of special note, a complete reference guide of 2003 Summer-Fun activities will be included as a major focus of the publication.

Approximately 15,000 guides will be distributed throughout the Rockaway peninsula, and its surrounding communities in Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau counties.

The Chamber is asking for locals to submit photos of "life on the beach", scenes of Rockaway from the eyes of those who live here. Anyone wishing to submit a photo for possible inclusion in the guide can mail them to the Chamber office. (Although the chamber cannot be responsible for lost photos, if you submit a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your pictures, every effort will be made to return it to the sender).

The Chamber wants all of your "info". The resource guide cannot be a success unless it contains all of the up-to-date information available from local organizations. So, please feel free to submit club, business, church, or sporting news, including meeting dates, etc. Of particular interest are any activities that are scheduled for the upcoming summer months.

You are also invited to join us in advertising your business, service, or organization by purchasing an ad, which certainly can include a coupon, if you desire, and you will be included in this year's Resource Guide. To reserve advertising space, check ad rates, or to drop off, or mail photos or copy for inclusion in The Rockaway Resource Guide, please call the Chamber office at (718) 634-1300, or email them at rockawaychamber@aol.com
