Drug Raid Yields Marijuana, Cash
By Brian Magoolaghan

Police seized a pound of pot, drug paraphernalia, and over $1,000 in cash after searching a home on Rockaway Beach Boulevard (RBB) last week, according to the Queens County District Attorney's Office.

Five officers from the 100 Precinct, working with a warrant, searched a house at 91-18 RBB. Two large bags containing marijuana were found in a kitchen cabinet, and a hallway closet, police said. In addition, they said, several joints were found on a bedroom windowsill.

Arrested following the search were Dolores Manzo, 41, John Manzo, 22, Tina Manzo, 18, and Jennifer Bleiweiss, 19, of 432 Beach 127 Street. The Manzos live in the home that was searched, according to court documents.

The four defendants, charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, were arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge Geffrey Lebowitz on April 12.

John Manzo's bail was set at $1,500 bail and $1,500 bond, according to the Queens DA's Office. He posted bail and was released April 13, according to the New York City Corrections Department. The three females were released on recognizance according to the Queens DA's Office.

The Manzo's will be represented by a court appointed attorney, according to the Queens DA's Office, and Bleiweiss by attorney Samantha Seda. Comment from the defendant's representatives could not be obtained by press time, although a woman who identified herself as Dolores Manzo called the Wave office. She said one of the defendants would be found solely responsible, and that she expects she and some of the others will be exonerated.

The defendants are due back in court on April 25.
