Far Rock Scales Girls Track Team Achieves Heights

Far Rockaway High School’s girl’s track team had an amazing run at the prestigious Brown Invitational where all the best teams in the eastern United States meet. In the 500M, Jeavon Benjamin took first place with the sixth fastest time ever, while Shellean Fyffe, Jeavon Benjamin, Aleisha Woodley and Jessica Belgrave took second place in a photo finish. The team easily qualified for the city and national championships.

At the PSAL Holiday Classic at the Armory, the Far Rockaway team again amazed and delighted everyone. Aleisha Henry and Naja Watts teamed for the bronze medal in the hurdle relay and thehigh jump relay, while Aleisha Henry and Darine Fortune took the silver in the triple jump relay. The 4X400 M relay team of Gaelle Okio, Kaydean Brown, Jessica Belgrave and Michelle Beckford took the bronze medal.

The pole vault relay saw the Michelle Beckford and Shamar Stewartson take the silver medal, with Michelle Beckford becoming the all time pole-vaulter in Queens history!! A great job for some great girls!
