Take Pride In Rockaway Park

Dear Editor;

I recently moved to Rockaway Park, and am disappointed that the boardwalk rules are not enforced at all. I see people walking their dogs not only on the boardwalk but also on the beach.

I even see them leaving dog excrement on the beach when they leave.  The bike riding although posted for certain hours goes on all day and night. I personally think that this does not help the property values go up even though new building is occurring and existing buildings are selling to new owners. The people of the area also leave so much garbage on the beach it is appalling. Whatever happened to pride in your community. I would like to write to whoever can do something about this if you would help me get the names and addresses. I would also like the residents to realize that it only brings down their property values if they don't take care of their beaches.

I realize the police are focusing on keeping the neighborhood safe but while they are patrolling they could also say something to those violating the boardwalk and beach rules. If you could publish this letter to the community and also forward me the names and addresses of the appropriate politicians for me to write to I would be greatly appreciative.

JOSEPH LAVALLE
