The Inner Voice by Marilyn Gelfand

Sometimes life seems overwhelming. How will I get out of this problem? How can I accomplish a large goal that I’ve set for myself? It may seem better to give up and do nothing at all. I may decide to just wait and see what happens. Why take any risk? It is difficult to know how to begin sometimes when the issue seems very large in scope. If you get the sense of small steps that could be a way to reach a larger goal, then that is probably a problem that can be accomplished in stages. It is not important to be married to a particular time frame that you may have arbitrarily set for yourself. If time is not the issue, let it go and allow the problem to unfold in appropriate time segments. First I can do this little bit, and go on in small increments. The key is in the perseverance.

There are times when your instincts may be putting you on hold. There is a difference between procrastination and waiting. There are occasions when there is work to be done, but we don’t do it out of fear of the unknown or laziness or insecurity of another nature. That’s different than knowing that something has to take longer, allowing things to happen first. Certain pieces must fall into place first before I know I must take action.

The key is to have a balanced energy and know that the decisions I make are not impulsive or just reactive. What I choose to do or not do is coming out of my instinctive nature. It is good to focus on the good that is yet to come.
