for larger version       Dean’s List Honors at Syracuse Victoria Jean-Louis and Latoya Lawrence, both from Far Rockaway, were named to the Dean’s List at Syracuse’s University. Jean-Louis is a freshman majoring in pre-law at the university’s College of Arts and Sciences. Lawrence is a senior majoring in child and family studies at the university’s College of Human Services and Professions. To qualify students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester. The College of Arts and Sciences is a liberal arts college at the heart of a national research university. It is both the founding college and the largest college of Syracuse University. The college offers more than 40 majors from 22 academic departments in the traditional disciplines of the humanities, sciences and the social sciences. Students from throughout the University register for its liberal arts core courses, while Arts and Sciences students take advantage of programs in the professional schools and colleges at Syracuse. The College of Human Services and Health Professions brings together Syracuse University’s professional programs in Child and Family Studies, Nursing, Nutrition and Hospitality Management, and Social Work in an environment of cross-disciplinary teaching, research, practice, and service. Through classroom learning and hands-on experience, students in the college are prepared for active and influential careers in the helping professions.
