Busted!
By Gary G. Toms

Uniform and plain clothes officers responded to a Level-1 mobilization at the Beach 41st Housing Development on May 5 after a man lead police on a high speed chase into the area. While area residents reported an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police, police officials would not confirm that shots were fired. In his attempt to escape, the suspect crashed the vehicle he was driving into the fence of a nearby playground. He then ran into 453 Beach 40 Street (pictured in the background), and was able to elude capture for several hours. After obtaining a search warrant, police apprehended the suspect the following day. He has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property, and is facing other charges.
