for larger version       Any Given Sunday: Robert Sarnoff Exhibition When you walk through the doors of Beach 116’s restaurants, you may be surprised to recognize yourself, or one of your neighbors hanging on the walls, that is, in a picture frame. Robert Sarnoff’s artwork, prominently displayed at The Beach Club on 116 Street, captures all of us in scenes of typical groupings and gatherings on our very own sands. The works are reminiscent of Reginald Marsh, Red Grooms and The Impressionists, quite a diverse and interesting company of artists. Sarnoff’s works are truly unique, however. His original interpretations of our life here in the Rockaways on any given Sunday, are truly affectionate, humorous observations. The colors are wonderful, the draftsmanship terrific. Sarnoff’s works are in the collection of Oleg Cassini, Eli Wallach, Arthur Ashe, Bill Talbert, Cleavon Little, as well as other notables. He has exhibited in one-person shows from SoHo, to Hell’s Kitchen to Hewlett. Sarnoff’s credits include: Official Artist of the Robert F. Kennedy, Pro-Celebrity Tennis Tournament at Forest Hills, The I Love New York Tournament and the United Negro College Fund Tournament at Madison Square Garden. In 1994, Sarnoff was presented with The Art Educator of the Year Award from the New York Art Teachers Association and The United Federation of Teachers. Sarnoff has written and illustrated "Cartooning," for Davis Publication and "Paper Mache," for J. Weston Walch. His articles have appeared in Playbill, Art Teacher, School Arts, Super 8 Filmmaker, and High Points. The signed and numbered, framed prints will be on exhibition through the summer.
