Chatting With Chapey The reviews are in. Critics and audiences alike resoundingly acclaim the opening night celebration of the Rockaway Theater Company's production of Lend Me a Tenor. Make this show a "must see" production. This is definitely something that you don't want to miss. Bring your family and friends to participate in this fabulous theatrical experience. Everyone will enjoy this top-notch performance. We were fortunate to attend the Champagne performance of the opening night celebration on Saturday, June 1st, jointly sponsored by the Rockaway Theatre Company Inc. and the Rockaway Music and Arts Council in association with Gateway National Recreational Area. Barbara Eisentadt and Sharon Gabriel were our gracious hostesses. Their warmth, charm and hospitality set a special tone for the evening. The decadent desserts were presented by the Beach Club. Each dessert was an artistic creation. Since they all looked so good and were so very tasty the guests were tempted to try each delectable piece. Thanks to the Goods for this wonderful presentation. Kudos to John Gilleece for his outstanding performance as Saunders in Bravo to Peggy Page - the director of this performance. Her ability to motivate each performer to excel at their part and share their talent with the audience was inspirational. She was able to draw out the strengths of each actor and actress. Peggy Page has a true and outstanding talent as a director. Her effervescent and outgoing personality are a big plus. Susan Hartenstein, the publicity director for the Rockaway Artists Alliance, performed the role of Julia with flare. She was perfectly cast as the attractive, well-dressed girl friend of Max. Her size six figure and sensuous performance enlivened the show. The other cast members - Les Kraft, Barbara Tawil, Ben Lampert, Baltsar Each one played their part with vigor. If I were you, I would rush to call the box office at 718-850-2450 to get tickets. Performances are at the Post Theater at Fort Tilden every Friday and Saturday evening through June 22 at 8:00 PM. There are two Sunday matinees on June 9th and June 16 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors and children. When you see this spectacular performance by the Rockaway Theater Company you will be thrilled and delighted. At the end of the performance I attended the audience spontaneously erupted into applause with members of the audience giving the production a standing ovation. Speaking of the theater, I had the good fortune to meet Dorothy Dunne. | |||||
